Mathématiques et applications

GOAL: The goal of this course is to teach students the basics of university-level mathematical English.

OBJECTIVE: At the end of this course students will be able to understand,  read, and write at least basic mathematical English.  Students will also learn to  read mathematics out loud - For example you will learn to read out loud the equation 

 $f(x)= \lambda \dfrac{a \sin(2x)}{\int_{s=r}^{s=t} \exp(3.9 \times 10^{-4} sx)ds}$  .

This skill will be vital  when you converse with fellow mathematicians or engineers  in other countries  and when you makie oral presentations at international conferences:   like it or not, English  has become the  international language of mathematics.
