This course aims at providing students with basic concepts of solid continuum mechanics and experimental mechanics.

At the end of the course, the students will be able to :

- Understand the basic concepts of solid continuum mechanics: strain and stress fields, how they relate and how they can be measured.

- Estimate analytically the stress-strain fields by solving a simple static problem of elasticity under small perturbation assumptions and apply basic elastic criteria to characterise the limit of elasticity of a solid body.

- Use the main experimental techniques for elastic parameter identification (classical technique, ultrasonic technique and digital image correlation)
