Course Introduction
Welcome to your 2nd semester in Business English. In this module we'll be concentrating on speaking skills. We'll be looking at international news and related issues which affect our ever-changing modern world. We'll also be looking at the Speaking Part of the Cambridge Preliminary B1 level certificate (PET) to prepare you for taking an official test of English if required.
This course is designed to develop critical thinking skills in assessing contemporary events and will lead to developing your judgement, evaluation and problem solving abilities. This means that no matter what path or profession you pursue, these skills will always be relevant and will always be beneficial to your success.
Objectives
- Improving your ability to talk about yourselves, family, studies, every day situations using correct vocabulary, verb aspects and tenses.
- Widening your vocabulary to be able to discuss current issues and affairs (political, social, financial).
- the Speaking Part of the Cambridge Preliminary B1 level certificate (PET/BEC) (mainly the photograph section). This part requires revision of conditionals, modals and expressing
preferences.
ASSESSMENT
- Mock exam of the Cambridge PET Speaking Part.
